THE MAN BEHIND THE LENS
I am Stuart Harrison and live in Cricklade in Wiltshire.
I am a professionally trained photojournalist with over 30 years experience, primarily in newspapers and recently as a Picture Editor on a local daily newspaper in Wiltshire.
My passion for photography from a teenager has been rooted in the concept that I am able capture ‘a 250th of a second of life which is then preserved forever’. I have always gravitated towards photographing people and telling a story about them.
I’ve had the pleasure in photographing five Prime Ministers, numerous political and celebrity figures through to some of the best sportsmen and women from around the world and every senior member of the Royal family, from Princess Diana to the Queen. During my newspaper career I have won a number of national and local press awards and was nominated in numerous others.
I’m pictured picking up my Press photographer of the year award from Humphrey Cadoux-Hudson, EDF Energy’s managing director of nuclear new build, and special sporting guest Heather Fell, who won a silver medal in the modern pentathlon at the Beijing Olympics.
